What do your parents do?

#1 Post by 2005 » Tue Sep 05, 2006 12:21 pm

After the two or so years of talking with you guys, then on BWP and now on BWP2, I get the impression that atleast PB and Dragon are atleast of middle class status. So I was wondering what your parents do for a living, and income range (if you care to share that information).

My dad is a grease monkey (mechanic) and he works on cars busting his balls for relatively little money. My mother prepares taxes for a portion of the year (tax season duh).

Combined I would say their total income is less then $30,000 a year.

Its an eye opener to me, when I realize that as of now im makeing 12,000 a year and if best buy or circuit city calls me Ill be makeing about 36,000 a year with no education past highschool and an A+ certification.

So what do your parents do, and if you wish to discuss, how much do they make??

My stepfather (whom I've lived with my entire life) works at the Harley Davidson Motorcycle factory in York, Pa. He brings in a good amount of money.

My mom was a dental assistant for most of her career life, but went to school about 2 years ago for ultrasound stuff, but is having trouble finding a job right now. She works with my uncle (who owns his own buisness, electronic's repair stuff).

No idea how much each actually do bring in though. I bring in some cash here and there. I don't have a job, but I do a lot of freelance kinda stuff, just working a bit and getting some cash for it. Anywhere from letting friends/local bands rent studio/live equipment from me, to fixing up guitars and computers. It's not much, but I have fun doing it.

My dad tutors math like PreK-12, he tutors every day, but recently made Sunday 'ICU'-only (Intensive Care Unit XD)

I dont know where dragon got my dad getting 180k from but yeah that would be about right for the time that i guess i told him... a few days ago my dad said to me "Looks like 200 isnt enough to this family's shopping appetite" and i was like LOL were only a four member family! so yeah hes making around 200k a year now thanks to his gradual transition from tutoring elementary to only middle and high school (less, more mature kids who pay more money, win win win dude).

My mom got a part time job at Avanex last year doing 'paperwork' on a computer and should be getting something like 20-30k a year, im not sure.

taxes.. hm. all i know is the sales tax is 8.75%.

no idea why dragon listed what stuff he has but sure ill play along -_-. Three vehicles, '99 Mercury Villager, '01 Honda Civic, '05 Honda Odyssey (dragon has like an '03 or something) I have a few TVs, largest one is probably as big of a Standard TV is going to get without being called big screen, modded xbox (woot), you have an idea about my computers.

You guys are nuckin futs... the house my parents just bought is like $75,000 USD and its going to take them a long time to pay it back.

Living in a fucking million dollar house is outrageous.

And theres something wrong when 200k isnt enough enough, thats nearly 10 times what my faimly lives on.

Houses are sky rocketing down where I live man. $200,000-$300,000 is entry level for single family homes. This is northern Maryland, smack-dab in the center as far as east-west goes.

Houses and real estate in general will be going through the roof, which is why I want to get some land atleast. I can pay for a house, even if I have to have one built and it costs alot of time and money. You cant build more land...
