I think the bigger issue is that windows does its shit first. I mean my system starts up fast, itll load up Avast very quicky and some other programs... but right when Xfire starts loading and logging in windows like checks for updates or something because it takes forever for xfire to finish logging me in.

so then if i installed drivers for new hardware that i jus got... so the install is last in order, ur sayin it should come up last... but for me, my sound drivers load up as one of the first, right after virus scan but before stuff like peer guardian

there might some thing that are in an unimportant order but then other things prolly have a priority

all drivers load up during the windows moving bar screen. if the driver loaded after the antivirus, does that mean you never hear the windows startup "music"?

correct, the soundcard ihave is for recording home studio type stuff... its the e-mu 1820m that there was a thread about a while ago

i can no longer hear windows start up or shut down music because the driver that controls the audio breakout box (and maybe the acutal sound cards inside my comp) isnt on at those times

its sorta like both, like how some gfx cards come with drivers that launch their own little start up programs, like a gfx control panel that would control all the little details of ur gfx card... except im talkin bout a sound card in this case

Windows gets priority with things it does at startup before anything else, I cannot say how the OS determines which other runtimes get priority or whatnot... because I dont know.

:[ my RAM..? lol my mom woke me up complaining that the PC wouldnt stop beeping XD from my room the beeping sounded like that ambient beeping you hear in HL2, cant quite pinpoint what made the beep, the security cameras? but it totally sounded the same

Follow up to the fail P4 plug extension I made. >_>

The desktop stopped POSTing and I found out even my third incarnation of the fix was flawed. Further fried:

Now I have the CPU powered through basically thicker than usual fan wire. >_> It's one of those LP4 to 3-pin fan adapters except I had previously removed the 3-pin plug and now I have soldered my P4 ATX extension wires to the fan wires to power the CPU. It's uh.. it's working? XD

You have to use a heavy enough gauge of wire for the amount of power your using...

if the gauge is too low the wires will get very hot and melt..

I couldn't find LP4 to CPU ATX 4 pin adapters in B&M stores so didn't bother with something official. I know its probably a bad idea but compared to what I did before its the best bet. Actually soldered the connection! I did fully load the CPU for a while after installing the new extension and no part of the wire got any warmer than any other wire. Considering the plug was introduced for the Pentium 4 and even quad cores can run off the 4 pin just fine, I doubt the Opteron 165 is even close to overusing the wire.
