Meh... give me the E6320 which has the 1066FSB and 4M shared L2 cache for $165 and I'll manually overclock it to 3.2-3.5ghz and in most applications own that E6850.

You don't need more then 1066FSB and a C2D at 3.5ghz would be wicked fast... probably like running my Opteron 165 at 4.5ghz lol

They'll do fine. Technically you can just put the RAM on a divider so even if you had shitty RAM it'd be all good. In accordance to their reputation in the field, I would probably change to a DFI board.

But, I've seen OCs beyond 3.6GHz on the Striker Extreme and thats pretty much high enough, no? Its already fast as fuck anyway.

Wait, if its a new faster FSB, does the mobo support it? It could certainly OC to that so.. I guess it doesn't really matter. However, the amount of room for OCing is decreased if its already OCed just to run the CPU at stock.

Neither. Get the E6600 and overclock it. Unless you can find facts that the E6850 has a higher average overclocking capability over the E6600 (and don't go looking at any E6600 over 6 months old, the newer a CPU is the higher it tends to be able to go) its not the smart choice. More importantly is the principle. The main reason most people overclock is because they buy a lower end, but same architecture CPU and overclock it to what the higher end models are and beyond. You however, are wasting money on getting that said higher end model and my gut feeling tells me it has the same max speed as all the other Conroes. If you get the E6600 and overclock it to the FSB of the E6850, it will be the same as an E6850. It doesn't even have the benefit of a higher multiplier. There is no way the E6600 will cost more than the E6850, and no matter how small the price difference will be the E6600 will still be the better deal and therefore the smarter choice.

That case is FUGLY and expensive. I like the P182 very VERY much. If it had more and better documentation with it this case would be unbeatable for the money.

I love this case pretty much, its big and quiet and lovely.

That Silverstone looks pretty sweet That is of course saying for the features. It may not look that good, but neither does the P180/2

You could get 2 P182's for the money, I don't see spending that much on the case when it doesn't warrant twice the investment.

Having two top fans is awsome . EATX means you can actually go consider a dual socket motherboard! lol the good brands only cost twice the price of the CPU you're considering.
