Wifes desktop died so we went and got this...(the 699 model on the right)

This thing performs like a champ. Forgot to get a micro HDMI cable and external storage. Need to go back.

There are two 699 models but I assume you didn't get the one with the Celeron. :P And that assumption also means you got a laptop with an SSD, nice!

Yes we did. Boots up in a fraction of the time mine does. I ended up also getting AC 1200 DB Wi-Fi Dual-Band AC+ Gigabit Router and a 500 GB external USB 3.0 HDD. Not enough room on the SSD and my old router didn't have a USB port. I didn't realize there are 3 different HDMI cables. I have a regular and a mini. Her lappy has a micro so I had to get another cord to use it with her monitor.

Ah, a Wifi AC router! Too bad the Yoga 2 is only Wifi N :\

Strange that the laptop has a micro HDMI but I suppose considering that tablets and phones also use micro HDMI (if they have video output at all), that would be the most common cable to have lying around.

This Linovo is the closest thing to a tablet we have owned. First device I came across that has it. For that matter I just learned today that there is Cat6a and Cat7 wire out there and there is such a thing as PoC (opposed to PoE). Guess I'm just out of touch.

Wait, what's PoC?

PoE=Power over Ethernet. (also PoE+ with is PoE with more watts)
PoC=Power over Cable or Coax.
The class I took for work shows Interlogix equipment such as PoE and non PoE switches, DVR's and converters for IP cameras.
ie....
Cameras http://www.interlogix.com/video/category/ip-cameras/
Recorders http://www.interlogix.com/video/category/recorders/
Switches http://www.interlogix.com/transmission/ ... y/network/
Power over Coax and Ethernet over Coax http://www.interlogix.com/transmission/ ... onverters/

Oh, so for PoC I assume the outside part that you twist is the Ground in terms of power... which given that you can touch it, there's no way they can make the power provided be AC.

I mention AC power because thinking about it... Coax does not have a specific length limit like ethernet does, so the voltage droop for DC can be a real issue that COULD be mitigated by using AC - except it'll be dangerous.
