That tells you nothing, because your in the middle of the woods... simple knowing what town hes from wouldnt get you anywhere as your still lost in the middle of the woods.

Ask him in which direction does he live.

And the rope theroy is incorrect. Burning the rope at both ends wouldnt give your a definite time because half the rope dosent equal one half of an hour.

the total is still an hour, it doesnt matter what speed it burns away the rope, burning it on two spots would mean the total time is cut in half.

If you ask him what town he lives in, he'll point to the town of truth wherever he's from.

Thats it!!! You got it restin256. Ask him to point to his town. A town lie and B town are honest. So if he is from B town he will point to B town because he is honest, and if he is from A town he would point to B town because they lie. So no matter what or where the guy is from he will poin to town B.

About the rope, I agree with you Palm. If there is an hour worth of rope to burn, no matter the size or shape, it will take a half hour to burn if lit from both ends. It also doesn't mean it will burn out in the middle ether.

But buring a half, or two halfs dosent equal half an hour or two halfs an hour. Distance in no way equates into time.

We know that distance doesn't equal time. It would still be gone in half an hour if you burned it at both ends, though. What opposing answer did you get?

No matter how thick/big the rope is, if its an hours worth of burning time for a full rope burning at one end, then burning at both ends untill they go out is going to be half an hour. No matter what.
