lol for the celeron test, i closed basically everything except speedfan. that includes zone alarm and kaspersky, then i changed the theme to Best Performance. now that i remember i set the shared memory to 16MB instead of 64MB... hm gotta retest eh?

um.. i replaced the 256MB PC2100 stick with a 512MB PC3200 stick so i have RAM clock headroom and im just wondering... what is the real clock speed the RAM should be at? do i really just leave the RAM at the un-quad-pumped 133MHz?? o.o whats the point of DDR2 if its just quadpumped and has higher latency?

Its hard to figure out with intels... I dont think their all quad pumped to the ram. I think the ram is straight up FSB speed... but you would OC your proc if you raised it lol.
DDR2 is capable of much faster FSB's, which the intels thrive on because the memory IC is on the southbridge and not worked into the CPU.
So you have 1066/2=533mhz FSB ram which is twice as fast as the standard DDR ram.

Okay, it seems that intels use an effecitve speed wrather then the half speed which AMD uses.
200mhz DDR is really 400mhz. PC3200 is 200mhz*2
You need to find out what the dividers are for that mobo. Also look to see what DDR FSB was when the PC2100 was installed.

my mobo does not appear to have dividers, it just has two options right on top of each other, one sets the RAM speed in effective speed-form (266), the other sets the CPU FSB in base form (133)
EDIT:
wait.. scratch that, the RAM speed is the divider and it goes by 33 increments

Yea lol... if you can set the ram speed you dont have to worry about a divider.

i hella wanna OC it but then i shouldnt but then i want to T__T but first imma get it a new case LOL, i hate that gateway shit SO much.

what do you think of this case? or rather, choose ANY case on that site

i can get w/e for free. though most of the options look like theyre from the 90's, i found something relatively (very relatively) recent:
"Prescott Ready"
http://www.chenmingusa.com/118.html
that one actually doesnt look too bad and its the right size for the ECS mobo

http://www.chenmingusa.com/118.html
soon XD it comes with some no name brand 300W PSU that, if it didnt come defective, is far better than a normal 300W.

the case has a mobo tray ^^ how convenient

shhh, no one sees the mess

and i see now, i didnt push the ATX connector in all the way... woops.
now where to put the two case temperature probes
http://www.mylilsite.net/images/prescot ... PUtemp.jpg
left this one full res because just look at that detail, perfect focus no shaking, i love it. put the probe to like.. the side of where the heatsink touches the CPU? from there temp is 1-2C lower than what the mobo says
http://www.mylilsite.net/images/prescot ... DDtemp.jpg
put the probe on the side of the HD where it gets hottest
