Not to many kids from your generation know how a book is operated, so don't feel too badly about that. If it doesn't fit into a CD-ROM, you guys don't know what to do with it.

i take too much care of the books when i do read T_T like the harry potter book, i dont bend out open any more than 90 degrees or wherever i start feeling resistance because i dont want a bent "spine", looks bad.
but then that makes reading a bit annoying so i dont read often XD

LOL oh em gee dawgs, my brother was talking about needing to take a piss, and his uneducated self said the following phrases
"I need to let my balls pee"
"let my balls empty"
"i need to ... balls.. bodily fluid..."
"I need to let it off!"

The LOTR books were okay, but im more of a sci-fi reader myself... nothing hits the spot like "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" or "Journey to the Center of the Earth". I read alot of different stuff but its usually sci-fi that allows me read a book cover to cover in one sitting. As far as the bent spines... buy hardcover books if you dont like that, books that I like or want to keep along time were bought in hard bound edition. I've read the first 4 harry potters in HS because the reading level was so low and they were worth so many points twoards how much I had to read for the year. I only managed to read half of the fifth book and just couldnt finish.. needless to say I probably wont be reading the Half Blood Prince. Harry Potters just not my kinda book.
