8800GTS is slower, and the 4850 arrived. yay. Benchmarks coming after reformat.
BTW its fan is noisy, hope the driver deals with it.

Added 4850 to the benchmarks for CS:S and HL2:Lost Coast on the previous page. ATITool v0.26 apparently can't run with the ATI Radeon HD4850. Irony.

1TB drive pwns in speed zomg!
I'm having some trouble with the 4850 running several things that turn out working for others' 48xx to some extent... I don't know whats going on. At least Crysis works.

Trying (maybe permanent) Vista Ultimate SP1 x64 on the new desktop. So far no problems with Vista, everything works. Except that if I reboot, right when it starts loading my user, itll reboot itself. After that itll get in and I can check what caused the problem: ATI drivers. Freaking HD4850 and its newness.
Anyway, 64bit pwns:

Is that supposed to be mocking me or what?
Desktop PC officially done.

HD4850 with non-reference HSF. For this picture I tried something I never did before: manual 1 second exposure time.

Refurbished hard drive, for the win or lose I'm not sure, it has a high rate of Raw Read Errors according to its SMART data.

Front, plain P182.

Back, taped up the extra vents in the P182. May tape up the MSI vent.

Initial part of my PSU silencing project. Had to see if I could silently stop the PSU fan without opening the PSU. Just sticking something in the way causes the fan to hit it, bounce back, and hit it again. Terrible. So this Qtip with a tip cut off is stuck into the fan motor area itself.

Funneling of the center fan so that it all went through the PSU, most ghetto thing ever.

Added benchmark from one of the college "Smart Lab" PCs (C2D 3GHz, 2GB, HD2400 Pro)
Impressive specs for a school computer, and now the graph is finally somewhat smooth.
EDIT:
Also added CS Lab PC (C2D 2.33GHz, 2GB, 8400GS). Now it is apparent (and later confirmed by proportion comparisons) that my Q6600 stock speed benchmark has a bad singlethreaded score.
EDIT 2:
Added X3 2.11GHz, 2GB, 8500GT. LULZ, AMD needed a tri core to compete with Intel dual core.

So the laptop's fan doesn't like to turn off very often anymore, even after fully cleaning the heatsink and such. My goal right now is to find the sensor that Everest has labeled as Chipset on the motherboard because the laptop seems to run the fan according to the temps of Chipset. By no means do I think Everest's names for the temperatures are correct, so I have no idea where on the board the sensor(s) is(are).
So, in order to try searching, I took apart the laptop. COMPLETELY.
Lots of close up pics (IMAG___.JPG) from my phone and general pics from my camera. If you have even a slight interest (probably not), then the sdstep__.JPG pics go through the works of taking the laptop apart.

Hey look I finally figured out how to make a directory show an Index Of page!
If you see any sensors or know wtf they're even supposed to look like, please let me know!

I see this thread has turned into the palmboy5 twitter, more then a year old, new computer, thread.
But I don't mean that in a bad way
Not to change the subject, but I will anyway, I noticed my set-up still falls into a good range of games except my processor. Is it worth it for me to upgrade just that or should I really be thinking about another system upgrade? hmmmmmm, not that I have any money
