dude dragon, it is NOT worth it. dont fall into the same hole i did getting the 6800 vanilla, consider your overall system! 6600GT would have been a much MUCH cheaper choice and i would not have seen a performance decrease from choosing it (apart from 3dmark, cause it only tests the video card because its gay.)
bottom line is find some cheaper alternative AGP card, dunno whats out there but maybe a 6800 vanilla or equivalent? P4C 3.0GHz should be faster than my A-XP was so it may balance out, unlike mine.

For computers, buying cheaply and often will only leave you constantly in a world of shit.
yeah same in my school, as my chem teacher said, the difference between normal and "honors" level classes is:
normal: teacher teaches everything to you, gives you a few problems for you to practice it into your memory. book is there basically so you can do questions in it. dont learn as much
honors: the book is your bible, teachers are trained to be less tolerant and expect the student to be able to figure out how to do things on their own as homework. class is for testing.

Dont get me wrong...
Lets level on quite a few subjects here. Paying attention in class is usually enough for me. Some people are taught to learn things by reading the book and trying on their own. Personally for me, I learn much better if im physically shown the material. Like in physics, I had a tough time sometimes with the homework. But I got him to illustrait what you would do and why you would do it and it made total sense.
And what I meant by never cracking a book was this... each class is 42 min long. After those 42 min each of those 8 kids never worried about the subject any further. The 42 min was long enough.
And memorazation will only get you into trouble in areas like math and science when things begin to get very intricate. Thats when the people who know their shit and the people who memorize are sorted out.

oh yeah and yes, ATi drivers fucking suck, and they disable softshadows on their cards for 1280x960 and above in FEAR and such, unlike nvidia and the nvidias mostly all have VIVO, ATi cards have either option. i like ATi and all.. but they suck.

So this is what it comes down to...
DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D 130$
Aspire Xploder Black/Silver Steel Mid tower ATX 58$
WD Caviar SE16 250GB SATA 7200RPM 16MB cache 105$
gigaRAM mach1000 series 2GB (2x1GB) PC4000 190$
ViewSonic G90FB Black 19" CRT
Logitech MX518 Optical Mouse 38$
ENERMAX Noisetaker 485W PSU 76$
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ 296$
eVGA 7800GT 445/1070 stock 295$
Windows XP PRO SP2 OEM 140$
Grand Total: 1633.29
This is more then likely going to be the final build. The only things that could change from here on out are the case or mouse. I hope though that some of these things come down. I think the 7800GT may because of the X1900 series.. a drop on the X2 would be nice also lol. But 1650$ shipped isnt bad eh???
