I'm browsing graphic cards, but I can't decide which one's the best for the price. I've narrowed it down to 8800GTS 320MB, 8800GT 256/512MB, ATI HD3850 256MB, and the 3870 512MB. What are your opinions?

Depends on what you want to spend.

Prices of the 3870 are inflated and come very close to the price of an 8800GT, so close that that it makes more sense to go 8800GT because the 3870 should be about $220 not $270+.

The 3850 performs as good as teh 8800GTS 320 but at a retail price of less then $200. This is the card I would get if it were me.

So Nvidia is a more reliable company?

You know, you're the first person to compare ATI and nVidia in their level of reliability.. Right... Lets ignore that theres a 90% chance you're getting a card made by a third party company with their own quality standards.

The 3870's are inflated due to demand. They are in high demand because a 3870's performance rivals that of a 8800GTS 640MB or a Radeon 2900 XT.

So it's inflated to the price of a 8800GT which is much better for the money (but comparable if you have the price of the 3870 at $220 where it should be).

If you want to spend under $200, then the 3850 is what you want. Performs on par with a 800GTS 320 for $100 less or a little more.

If you would spend $220 and you can find a 3870 at this price (which you can't right now) then it's the best price/performance card you can get right now.

If not plop down $270 on a 8800GT and have 8800GTX class performance for half the price.

The price's and the effect supply and demand have on the price have nothing to do with reliability.
