Right now I have the PS2 to the TV using the standard RCA cord (yellow/red/white). Is it worth getting the s-video or component video for the PS2? Someone at best buy told me I wouldn't see a difference in graphics.
something like this...

Well, what TV do you have?

I wouldn't run any PS2 game in 720p/1080i, just because the PS2 is too damn slow. So the only improvement you'll get is a less blurry image going to 480p from 480i, although not every game supports 480p and they don't tend to change to 480p automatically.

EDIT:
*sees thread about TV*
OK, yes definitely get a component cable. WATCH OUT for bad cables, a lot of them have poor quality and the image has ghosting and shit you just.. dont want to deal with. That does not mean you need to go expensive, some are still 20 bucks and still work. I got one from GameStop for 20 bucks and it is universal to XBOX/360/PSone/PS2/PS3/(and i think gamecube). It has slight ghosting but otherwise its good.

OK, sounds good. I did see a "monster cable" at walmart for $20. I will be contentious of the cheap'o looking cords. Thanx.

Make sure it's got sonys propritary end on the back.. if you get regular components they won't fit the PS2.

The PS2 has it's own "end" and you need a cable with that end. Gamestop sells a set of components I'm using with my PS3 for HD and it works for PS2. The cables cost me $15 and they work great and support Xbox,360,Ps1/Ps2,PS3 and gamecube.

I dont think it's worth it though, check to see how many of your games are 480p capable (check the books or look online). The picture quality jump won't be huge and if it's only 1 to 2 titles save your cash.
