LG/Google Nexus 5 (Hammerhead)

Got new phone lol.

Even bigger screen than my Nexus 4, 4.95" instead of 4.7". But yet it is no wider than the previous because the ratio of the screen is 16:9 rather than 5:3.

I wish there was a smaller phone that still had good hardware, but until then... has to be these sizes.

The 445 DPI is great, much higher than iPhone Retina at 326.

Can I get a list of your top 5 or 10 phones to get? Nothing "i", way too expensive.

I feel that even as little as "top 5" just gets you every noteworthy current-gen phone. In general... my top phones revolve around having the Snapdragon 800 processor. Unfortunately, some of the annual reiterations of flagship phones are too old to have the 800, like the S4 and HTC One below, but I still list them.

From least to most likely to buy, for me.
Samsung Galaxy S4
Sony Xperia Z1
HTC One
Google Nexus 5

But in terms of a nice midrange option with neat features, I would definitely get the
Motorola Moto X
because

I miss being able to ether open the phone or hit 1 button to use the phone, as a phone, from any point on the phone. I miss my hard phone button I had. Now if I am into anything on my phone I have to hit several buttons to dial, and my phone is pretty slow. Ill look into your list. I also have to plug my phone in before the end of the day if I use it for anything else except texting.

yeahhh... I call once every full moon at best lol. to tell my doctor im turning into a werewolf

But so the phone icon on the home screen isn't direct enough?

As for battery life, why didn't you say so??
Great Battery Life Exhibit A (for Verizon only)
Great Battery Life Exhibit B

Problems with both to me is that they aren't up-to-date with the latest version of Android (or even the previous version). Also, Exhibit B is even bigger than mine.

Phone icon in the home screen is great, when your at the home screen. if I'm doing anything and decide to make a call I have to hit the home button, wait 2-10 seconds, click the phone icon, wait 1-5 seconds, then dial. Ill look into the phones you suggest. I am probably going to Straight Talk when my contract is up. So by then I should be able to afford these phones ;)

Multiple seconds to switch apps is just appalling. I know Android is known to be slower than iOS, but switching my phone from X app to the dialer app involves the phone waiting for my slow meat-bag self to provide input each step of the way, as is how our computers should behave.

The LG G2 is the phone my Nexus 5 was based off of (in fact, it's higher spec'd) so I'm confident that it will perform just as well.

According to Some Random Internet Commenter #72536, Google subsidizes and loses $50 on each phone sold.

But that's not to say that they didn't have LG skimp on some aspects (that they don't care about) to lower costs. For example, the speaker sucks even among mediocre speakers, but yet it's among the first Android phones to get optical image stabilization for the rear camera.

The camera is definitely an improvement over the Nexus 4 (4 left, 5 right). Check out the sticker labels!
