If your going to spend 275$ on a video card, why not get this for the same price after mail in rebate

The cards dont even compare...
You've got the 6800GS which is basically an overclocked 6800 vs a factory overclocked 7800GT. The GS has only 12 pipes and thats because there are no more, in other words no software locked extra pipes. (BTW a 6800GS is like 190 US or 220 CAD on newegg, but ncix price matches so whatever).
So unless you have to pay 275$ for that 6800GS, scrap it and get the one I linked. If your mobo supports PCI-E that is.

the 6800GS is the best on that page, and it is basically an overclocked 6800 but for it's core they shrinked it to w/e nm they use for the 6800GT, so you can probably OC it a bit higher than a standard 6800...
all the cards there are like... the more expensive, the faster it is, so if you really want to know which is best, just look at the most expensive.
i wouldnt wait for shit, how about just get a new PC?

Dawg you will pay through the teeth for that 7800GS. And I wouldn't pay 275$ for that AGP card anyhow because of this reason

The AGP socket type is dead and you should just upgrade your CPU. Time to ebay that F'er off or keep it for a surfing computer. If you have a NEC DVD burner you can keep that... and keep your HDD's. Possible ebay off that 9600 PRO you should get around 100$ for it.
Peronsally I would keep that computer as a work station. Use it to burn dvd's and the like so that you can game on your new computer while the other one does the time consumeing shit.
Just found it... suggest retail price for the 7800GS is 399$. Thats more then my BFG 7800GT which is factory overclocked (and its warrentied).

Higher clock vs very close clock
like 485 1100 vs 450 1000
The Platinum would own in higher res with more eye candies. But bag for the buck the GS is the way to go.
What are the cache lvls like on that CPU??? Im pretty sure that it will have problems with games comming out in the next few months. And the whole rig will need updating in a year atleast.
