Getting a new car

So I've decided to ditch my chevy blazer, let my dad pay me back the 1200$ ish I paid on it and put that down on a 99 Chevy Monte Carlo LS. Its nice and has about 100k miles on it but my dads a mechanic and says its in mint condition.... no leaks, rust notta. It was wrecked once because the door was replaced/repainted. We know this because the pin striping on the door is perfect and on the whole rest of the car its scratched a tad and slightly fainted.

My blazer got horrible gas mileage... my dad said about 15 miles fully tuned up was about all I should expect with it. Now heres the funny part. I drive NO WHERE but to work, lone exceptions are once to twice per month. So my work is exactly 2 miles from where I live and round trip I drive about 4.5 miles per day. Take that times 5 days a week and you get about 22.5 miles. Considering that I should have to put no more then 5$ per week into the gas tank yet I end up putting the better part of 20$ in each wek. Total bullshit IMHO so im dumping it for the 99 Monte Carlo LS which is neigh on 30mph highway and 22-24 city.

Pics will follow next week, when I can take them.

Meh might not be getting that exact one after all... it has a cracked headgasket and it and the intake is leakeing antifreeze.

My dad said hes going to call the guy selling it and say if he still wants to sell us the car he has to knock it down to 3500$ because he now has to put 150$ worth of parts on it and over 11 hours worth of labor (most automechanics like him charge 40$ an hour, most dealerships charge 65$ an hour). That and the parts at 150$ to my dad, to a regular joe who walks into a napa or carquest, your going to pay another 100$ for those same parts.

So it'll either be that 99 white monte carlo for 2300$ to me (my dads putting the 1300$ I spent on the blazer down on this car) or it'll be a 94 black one for 1800$ plus taxes, providing the car is in sound condition.

Thats down right cheap for labor. round here Monro charges $85/hr. The average labor cost is about $70-75/hr.

Not getting it, he still wants 4300$. Im not putting 4300$ into the car without the 500$ Ill need to repair the headgaskets. Ill have to work along side my dad, pay him like 30$ an hour and pay for the parts at his mechanic discount rate. I'll still have 500$ into and Ill have about 9 hours worth of work.
