holy shit dude... frys had this Airlink 802.11g wireless router for 16.99 and an accompanying PC card wireless adapter for laptop for 9.99. i got it and it WORKS...

in comparison, the Linksys/Netgear/D-Link are about 50 for router, a little less for PC Card.
For computers, buying cheaply and often will only leave you constantly in a world of shit.
