Why would you get PC4000 ram for that rig, do you even know if the X2 3800 can be OC'ed??? And why 2 dvd burners, one would do just fine... copying on the fly is no good.

i dont know if the 3800+ can be OCed or not OCed, but the fact that no ones goes on forums.amd.com whining about it i think it can... why the hell not :D its not THAT much more than the single core i wnted to get, and since the multiplier is probably locked upwards, imma have to go by FSB so i got a higher clocked RAM because i dont trust the OCability of memory... and i think all the speeds between PC3200-PC4000 are too random, PC4000 is conveniently 250MHz.
with the dvd burners, theyre not tat much more than the normal ones so yeah.. and a few times i DID need to burn two at the same time to save time... and with dual core that should be easy no?

EDIT:
http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38208

what a convenient thread, got the CPU i want going at 2.5GHz easily and below has a post saying his RAM is probably crapping out at 250MHz

fits perfectly :D

due to its fanless design, if u use something like watercooling it even comes with its own little fan u can add on if needed

The GS has no extra unlockable pipelines, even though its clocked faster. Grab the X800GTO and unlock the 4 software locked pipelines then OC to X850XT.

actually neither model has much modding potential, the true moddable GTO was the GTO2, which is sold out for good now..

i chose the x800gto because the connect3d package came with more cables to work with..

felt like i should update my list, changed RAM (its much cheaper and still 3-4-3-8, seems to be good, new company) and video card.. and changed to just two identical dvd burners

Antec P180
Newegg
$124.99

ePower Puma II 450W
Newegg
$46.50

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
Newegg
$163.00

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+
Newegg
$322.00

gigaram mach1000 series 2GB (2 x 1GB) PC4000
Newegg
$245.00

eVGA Geforce 6800GS 256MB PCI-Express
Newegg
$209.00

Western Digital SATA 150 160GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
2x Seagate IDE 200GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache
Already Have

2x Nec Black IDE DVD Burner ND-3550A
Newegg
$40.99 x 2 = $81.98

Total=
$1,192.47

LOL every time i update, i add in sometihng better yet the price always goes down..

ill take my chance with the gigaram..
"Considering that this is the first time that we have ever tested a Gigaram memory, we have to say that we are impressed. This memory clearly belongs in the same league with Corsair and OCZ, which is no small feat for a new memory company pushing into the High-Performance memory market. Time will tell if Gigaram delivers the same level of performance throughout their retail deliveries, but we certainly like what we tested."
