unless you need the performance for video and audio editing, the 3800+ Venice core is a better processor

... or.. i can OC it to a modest 2.6GHz and be faster than all but one, the X2 4800+.

generally speaking single and dual cores can OC to the same max, you see dual cores at stock speeds performing lower than their model number single core counterpart because theyre clocked about 400MHz lower. but at an average 2.7GHz peak for both it doesnt matter anymore... except dual core has yet another core.

besides, the 64 3800+ is $282 on newegg, i got mine for 279.99, without shipping.

Its not a toledo. Toledo's have 2x1MB L2 cache (a SD core has 1MB L2 cache. You have the manchester core (512KBx2 L2 cache)

Unless newegg does't even have it for sale, but AFAIK they only made 2 toledo core CPU's and they were the X2 4400+ and the 4800+

they disabled half the cache.

http://forums.kustompcs.co.uk/showthread.php?p=298882

mine says ADA3800DAA5CD

now about removing the heatspreader metal plate (IHS) on the CPU... hm. 20C lower?? awsome but the chance of it cracking is crazy

haha it seems everyones Core 0 cant clock as high as the Core 1... but with just one core at 2.7+ will still be faster than an FX-55. core 0 dying would be "fixed" if i remove the IHS but huge risk there

its a "Tolchester", hardware level disable of half the cache, wont be able to unlock it but it will have the toledo's higher OC capabilities

but A8N32 has 8-phase power :[ it runs cooler and more stable that way, and its doubled PCI-Express bandwidth helps more in single card performance than SLI

lol... Premium = a lot cheaper, A8N32 = cost more than my RAM

XD me do not know... bah. wtf happened to sub $100 mobos like my 8RDA+ :\
