This is a good thing. Maxtor was crap anyway.

They bought maxtor to discontinue the line, or so it would make sense. Less competetion = more control

I agree. I think Seagate will eliminate the name, but I think they could better it also.

Nah, you still have a Hitachi, Fujitsu, Samsung, and Western Digital. Even though I dispize WD because their power connectors are positioned slightly different from all other HDD's. The only reason I care is because I wanted to use this hard drive my friend gave me in my PS2. You know copy the disk into the HDD and the games loading times are reduced by like 4/5ths. It turns out the only HDD not compatablie with the PS2 Network adapater is fucken WD.. which is exactly what brand my friend gave me.

Dumblebutt: "oh Harry, would you like to come with me to destroy parts of Voldemort's soul?"
Harry: "COOL! id wuv to!"
Dumblebutt: "careful Harry, ive already had to save your ass seven times now!"
Harry: "GOSH this is so HARD.."
Dumblebutt: "AHHHHGHGHDHD *DIES*"
Harry: "NOO!"
(LATER)
Harry: "Ginny, im going to dump you before i even banged you, too bad. as a mediocre school drop-out, im going to go single-handedly complete the task that provided great difficulty to the second best wizard in the world."
