alyx is always the main charactor when youre with her. or else she cant be the one leading you through some things. you just happen to be with her more in ep 1. XD

Yes.. in HL-2 your doctor gordon... unless they change that in Epsiode one.

Im getting it for free... friend figured out 1337 way for me to get all steam games free.

Something about entering a password and backing the game up to a disk and then installing it on his steam. Its 1337 as shit.

gordon not being in ep1 makes the entire thing a fucking movie.
i thought it was pretty obvious with all those people in HL2 calling you "Gordon", "doctor", "The Free Man", etc, and you popping into Dr. Breen's office during the failed teleportation; first time breen notices you, second time he tells his combine leader "The moment I saw him, I'm all but certain it was.. Gordon Freeman."
dont tell me you still think the bald scientist with his pet headcrab is Dr. Breen

gordon was still in stasis before HL2 as well, and he was woken up. can ep 1 not have a 30 second gman wake up call as well?

there is no real "expansion", there are mods that are based off half life 1 (Blue Shift), and there are mods that are based off it's gaming engine (Counter-Strike)

youre probably referring to blue shift when you say expansion and.. no it doesnt follow the story line, but it has all the same weapons
