replaced 30GB HD with a Seagate 300GB 7200RPM 16MB Cache PATA ($63), the 30GB HD along with the MBR were successfully transferred to a 30GB partition on the 300GB with norton ghost
one thing that really surprised me: the upgrade of the HD resulted in a functional standby through timeout.
with the 30GB i just couldnt figure out WHY the PC would never go into standby after 25 minutes or w/e time i chose, it turns out that HD was too old to support such a function?!?!?! gay piece of shit. btw i wanted to put that PC to standby for one reason: the 30GB HD's motor is louder than the prescott stock fan.

For computers, buying cheaply and often will only leave you constantly in a world of shit.

frys electronics lol.. it was actually onsale on their site as well www.outpost.com, you could have ordered it as 80, paid shipping and tax, and print out the $18 rebate.

it says down to $62 because thats the SATA version, and the rebate is generic, its just a 10% off of the suggested retail price for w/e the HD model. i guess the PATA was a bit cheaper
