A little help please

#1 Post by Directive » Fri Mar 23, 2007 8:37 pm

I took this test from DSL reports:
http://www.dslreports.com/tweakr/block: ... via=normal

I downloaded Dr TCP but the program says my network card MTU is already set to 1500. I have a Belkin Wireless G Router 2.4 GHz 802.11g and a VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter. Can anyone shed some light on this?
This is only my opinion, I could be wrong.

I'm assuming you tried a retest just in case? But really, you aren't far from 1500, and its just speculation, but maybe your ISP decided to lower the MTU when they upped your cap to 10mbit to keep the load on their servers in check.

I don't have any problems. I just didn't like the fact that DSL reports says my MTU is one number but Dr TCP says its set to another. The numbers should match.

DRTCP isn't giving me an MTU, just a blank space for me to set and save it. How did you get it to tell you that it is already set to 1500? If thats the case save the 1500 and reboot, it may be what DRTCP wants you to set it to?

ok, let me spell this out. I ran Dr TCP. the MTU number states 1500, I didn't have to set it, it was already there. I have hit save and rebooted several times in the past 2 months and STILL dslreports gives me a different MTU number then Dr TCP.
