9x334 24 hour Prime stable, 2x Small FFT, 2x Blend. Noisiest part of the PC is the PSU, which is pretty damn loud for a 120mm fan. -_- The sound isnt even the sound of air flow like the 120mm that came with the case, it sounds like the fan is unbalanced/shitty motor as it whines and whines. I'll leave the system at idle, and if that fan doesn't stfu, its getting a 3-4 egg rating.

You could easily get 3.3-3.5 out of that thing, but depending on temps and if you want to turn those fans off low you might be better off to stay where your at.

That machine should be smokin as it is.

i put my opty back at stock (1.8ghz) and it took 40 seconds to do a 1M calculation lol.

HL2 and related games lagged so much with the 6200LE, the game itself lagged at higher resolutions. Probably to maintain at least 2fps in real fps. net_graph 3 showed an fps of about 17 while FRAPS said 2.

College class registration tomorrow so I'm going to concentrate on that for now.

Yes.

The beta version of Speedfan 4.35 that has support for my mobo's P45 chipset "crashes" SMBus when I run it. It will run fine for that boot, but when I reboot, the video signal will not return. The mobo will start a series of beeps forever. Damn it, don't know if I should (bother) report(ing) it to the developer..

Little confirmation questions: XP x64 will run all 32bit apps, right? The only thing I need to pay attention to are 64bit drivers, right?

There are some common issues that arise with Windows XP Professional x64 Edition.

* Driver compatibility; Only 64-bit kernel mode drivers are supported. This means that devices for which there are no 64-bit Windows XP drivers available cannot be used. This includes a lot of common hardware.
* Any 32-bit Windows Explorer extension fails to work with 64-bit Windows Explorer. Explorer is a 64-bit program, so it cannot load a 32-bit DLL. However, Windows XP x64 Edition also ships with the 32-bit explorer.exe, which can be used as the user's default shell with a registry change.
* Any 16-bit programs will not run (32-bit software with 16-bit installers based on ACME Setup versions 2.6, 3.0, 3.01, and 3.1 and InstallShield versions 5.x will run correctly)
* Command prompts will not load in full-screen. This is also true of Windows Vista in both 32 and 64 bit editions.
* Some (typically older) programs have 16-bit installers that will not install on the x64 Edition
* No native support for Type 1 fonts.[citation needed]
* ID3 tag information from music files are not viewable in the Windows Explorer.[citation needed]
* Does not contain a Web Extender Client component for Web Folders (WebDAV).
* The Windows Live installer executable cannot be run, so one needs to find separate .msi installation files for each component (such as Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail,...)

ZOMG I had no idea the 7800GT was bottlenecked this much... I could easily run HL2 at 1080p with 60+ FPS except for the most graphically difficult portions.

Now to compare with the original desktop, which I will do these tests after moving the 7800GT back. Stuff so far:

CS:S 1024x768 max settings except default AA and AF video stress test:
Q6600 3.0GHz + HD4850 - 368.65 fps
Q6600 3.0GHz - 189.50 fps
Opteron 165 1.8GHz - 105.23 fps

HL2: Lost Coast 1024x768 max settings except default AA and AF video stress test:
Q6600 3.0GHz + HD4850 - 207.74 fps
Q6600 3.0GHz - 121.00 fps
Opteron 165 1.8GHz - 58.75 fps

ATITool 3D View:
Q6600 3.0GHz + HD4850 - 1156 fps average
Q6600 3.0GHz - 408 fps average
Opteron 165 1.8GHz - 407 fps average

So, looks like CPU does matter.

The sad thing is, whatever the hell that has been causing my Opteron (and X2 3800+ before it) to run so hot has been keeping it from safely OCing to any good level whatsoever. The quad core and the dual core have identical coolers for their respective sockets and the same basic case cooling. Even so, the quad is OCed to 3GHz and runs just as warm as the dual at 1.8GHz.

Unfortunately, the first octocore (which will be released by Intel) is also going to have two threads per core, so you'll end up with 16 graphs in task manager.

I've done some retests of the Cinebench R10 benchmark on the PCs I felt weren't scoring as high as they could. This time, I did the best I could to eliminate other CPU-using background applications, particularly Desktop Sidebar. I even closed firefox for the AXP 1.8GHz, among others, and got the score from 710 to 1001. If the previous score was higher, it was kept.

Lacks in accessories (no CF bridge!) but the cooler looks promising and its cheap.

Small wtf regarding the Foxconn P45A-S, the six SATA ports are numbered on the board and literally seen by these numbers in the BIOS:
6 | 1
5 | 3 <== as seen with the mobo upright with the CPU at the top
4 | 2

Also, DAMN IT. lol, I got the mobo for $124.99, now its 119.99 - 10MIR = $109.99. *dies* Its number of user reviews increased by 160% since my purchase as well, good for it.
