My System Monitor > Vista Sidebar + Mac Widgets

#1 Post by compL33Tazn » Sun Apr 26, 2009 8:55 pm

In response to palmboy's suggestion, I shall show off my system monitor :D .

I made this over spring break using Rainmeter and sampling segments of code from existing skins.

There's a primary desktop meter, then a more compact bar on the bottom (the bar stays on top, used when I have a full screen window.) The CPU temps are extracted from Speedfan, and weather is from weather.com but opens wunderground.com on click.

Comments or criticism plox.

Yes, much better than the Vista Sidebar. But, if your systems are prone to monitor/resolution changes like mine (not even talking about full screen games), it is wholly impractical. For such cases, one has no choice but to settle for implementations that have been heavily tested for quality control by a company such as Microsoft.

Stereotypes make my statement seem like a joke, but people are ignoring or forgetting just how buggy and shitty open source or free software really is.
For computers, buying cheaply and often will only leave you constantly in a world of shit.
