I'm tired of this:

So I'm going to make a Network Attached Storage based off an Atom 330 and share the HDDs through ethernet rather than through USB then through ethernet. That way all I need to do to set up the hard drives is take out a small PC and plug in just two cables.. power and ethernet . That's the plan anyway.. Got the Atom 330 so far, now I can do measurements and case modifications.

Intel D945GCLF2 w/Atom 330
AMD Stock cooler fan from X2 4000+
Crucial Ballistix Tracer 1x1GB DDR2-667
PNY Attache 256MB USB flash drive
Seagate SATA 750GB 7200.10 16MB cache
Seagate SATA 1TB 7200.11 32MB cache
Uses an alpha build of FreeNAS which is virtually the only build that supports the onboard Realtek 8111 gigabit ethernet chip. It (easily) fits on an old 256MB flash drive. Shares 750GB and 1TB Seagates, both through SATAII and gigabit ethernet.
The case is a really old 1999 HP Pavilion where I had my dad help me drill off all the internal PSU and drive holding crap so I could fit things the way I wanted. The three 3.5" HDD compartment is from a Gateway 2000 Pentium Pro 180MHz PC from uhh.. 1996?
The Atom 330 board was the only thing I bought for this build, everything else are crap I had lying around.
EDIT:
PSU exhaust fan was disabled, intake fan was replaced with an Antec Tri-Cool set to Low. I taped up some of the "back" vents to make sure the intake's air still goes out through the exhaust like it should. All in the name of silence.
System power draw is approximately 55W so that 420W shouldn't overheat anyway.

I don't get why Intel decided to make the Atom powered by ATX12V like modern CPUs... The purpose of that plug was to keep up with the power demands.. But this Atom 330 has a TDP of 8W! Modified the motherboard to eliminate the need of the 12V 4pin plug.

Wired the 4 pins to their respective 12V and GND at the ATX connector.

Got it to have all the HDD and fan plugs get power from the ATX cable. I did the modification to a 20pin to 24pin adapter so I don't damage anything important. Look at my shit soldering job:

NAS refuses to turn on with the SATA to ATX contraption I made, even when under the same circumstances of when I tried on a P4 3GHz PC which did turn on.
One strange thing is that both PCs did start to power up things like fans and LEDs, even though all I was supplying it was 12V, 5V, and 3.3V. Ground was disconnected. Connecting ground resulted in brighter LEDs and faster spinning fan. The circuit is running without negative/ground! o.O

I finally de-ghettoed my server With a Rosewill R115-P BK case for $20 with 6% Bing Cashback.
Moved the exhaust fan to the front, put a dust filter, and undervolted it to 5V, most other vents were taped up. The intake has higher CFM than the PSU exhaust so all the other holes are exhaust. Should be pretty dust free, unlike the previous case.

The intake vents on the case sucked, so I had to remove two panels on the front, as you can see in the pictures.
