Fry's had terribly boring Black Friday sales, didn't even have the usual sale on the most popular enthusiast CPU (with free motherboard) at the time... something I had taken advantage of twice in the past. Saturday sales were much better! Twice as many ad pages as Black Friday and most importantly, more free stuff .
I sold my old fat PS3 for $350 and slapped it right on the bill for the HDTV. So I paid $650 for a 120hz 47" Sony Bravia.
It's sexier then hell but my gay cable box won't work properly when using HDMI connected to this set.. gotta use components but still picture is sexy as hell.
PS3 and blu-rays look great and I just flashed my xbox 360 with ixtreme so now I can play backups!
I have to say, its impressive how well they locked up the PS3. Its the only console to openly allow another OS, a huge hole itself, and yet no cracks have been achieved after > 3 years! I want those guys designing my security.
For computers, buying cheaply and often will only leave you constantly in a world of shit.
They have done a superb job with security... so far the money invested in the efforts to secure the PS3 are a golden investment.
The PS3 has been out now for almost 3 and a half years and so far no practical methods of cracking the PS3 have come about.
There were methods to play backups although none of them ever went public. Whats more impressive is that even though the methods never went public is that the holes in the security that allowed such hacks to come about were fixed and usually in the very next firmware update.
The xbox360 on the other hand was cracked within the first 3 months of it retailing. The bext M$ can do about it is ban your console from live and I would rather trade not having the ability to play on live for the ability to save hundreds of dollars on games.
Whats this crap about not playing any type of PS2 game? It will let me make a vertual PS2 memory card, along with a PS1 one. Whats the use of a PS2 vertual memory card if it wont play PS2 games?
On the other hand we are planning on getting rockband 2, beatles rockband software and God of War 3 in the near future. We downloaded the demo and its AWSOME!

I can start/maybe move particular posts to a new thread as soon as someone decides for me whether this belongs in software or hardware.
None of what I said had to do with PS2, sorry. The DNS workaround is to use an older firmware but still be able to go onto Playstation Network (which needs the most recent). It's so I can still go download any new demos, for now at least. There will be a problem later when I want to play a game and it requires 3.21 or newer.
