#1 Post by Directive » Wed May 14, 2008 8:08 am

We just got a....

Looks great. Replaced my OLD 32" crt flat screen TV. It cost me $950 at best buy. Oh yes, spending that stimulus check from the government.
This is only my opinion, I could be wrong.

Blah I still don't have my own income so I couldn't apply for that check XD

Tip:
Get good speakers too. Built-in speakers are always crap, there IS a difference. This would apply to your previous TV too but when speaking of SDTVs (was it?), the image is still crap so theres no point upgrading the audio anyway.

PB's correct, even a $40 wal mart surround will sound much better then the audio the TV gives you. The sound has zero depth and sometimes in the flat panel HDTV's the plastic like vibrates and the sound is awful.

If you have it, you should invest in a decent $100-$200 surround set but even a cheap one beats the pants off stock audio.

I can't even watch SDTV any more, or play SD video games. I'm hooked on HD like fat people are hooked on cake.

I'm STILL using my old Sony Bravia that I bought somewhere around 2008 or 2009.

It's a 46" 1080P set.... not a "smart" TV. I still have no real reason for a 4K set and like my 5870 video card I'd like to replace this TV but just "can't" bring myself to do it while it still works! Who knows, maybe by this black friday I'll be ready to take the leap. I would like something a little more along the 65" line in terms of size, and the smart functionality wouldn't hurt either.

Whatever you do, don't get one that uses Android TV. I have a Sony that runs Android TV and man... that OS is pure trash. It's even crashed/rebooted while I'm trying to watch something off HDMI (not a built in smart feature or anything)... Just avoid like the plague.

I still have and use that TV in this post. Starting to get black shadows in the upper right corner. Works great for its age.

I had a TV do that. My first ever HDTV was a 32" Emerson IIRC.

I got it at walmart, $400 ish dollars back in about mid to late 2006 I want to say? It was a "demo" unit. I think the retail price of that set was closer to $600 at the time. I used it for nearly 4 years and then I gave it to my father who used it for about two more years or so before it started to develop a dark spot right in the middle of the screen.

Then my brother took it to play xbox / ps3 on. It's long since been junked I'm sure. But man did we get our $400 out of it!
