Speedof.me is nice on mobile and stuff since it's just HTML5 but I've gotten a wide range of speeds on it too.
This is pretty spot on though:
Image

How come none of your download segments flat line? The download segments should be going long enough for a constant speed to be established, but looks like for you it just cuts off before your top speed is reached...

Might be because my wife had a movie paused in the family room on Netflix and she was on the internet at her computer while I was running the test.

Got Comcast's 50/10 tier:
Image

I've gotten more like 56/12 but now I have DD-WRT limiting the speed a bit. As with all of my prior internet connections, I've found that maxing out download or upload (or both lol.) just results in like 300ms pings. Capping the speed to just below the max speeds keeps that ping low.

This is Time Warner packages...
http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/inter ... plans.html

I am on the Standard Plan which is enough for me. Can stream movies in 3 different rooms with no noticeable lag. I do like that Comcast has a tier with a 10Mb upload. As you can see Time Warner offers a 5Mb max.
This is only my opinion, I could be wrong.

LMAO that's great and 100% accurate. There is talk of Comcast acquiring Time Warner in my area.

Just upgraded my internet package to 20down and 2up. Getting Image for current speeds.
Also, it seems Spectrum has acquired Time Warner in Upstate NY. So far I like what I am getting and paying for but I am not hearing very good storied about Spectrum.
This is only my opinion, I could be wrong.

Comcast had upped everyone's speed in the area shortly after this thread left off. My 50/10 package became 150/10.

Gotta 1up ya

1 up!? You like 6 upped me. :thumb:
I just don't understand why these download/upload speed ratios are so far off, or different. I would gladly forfeit some download speed for extra upload speed. Like 15/5 sounds better, 10/10 would be best. :? :?:
What is up with the ping numbers? Should I be worried?

Your ping is fine. Nothing amazing, but totally normal.

And yes I would love to have more upload! It was so much worse in San Diego, but Comcast here isn't much better.

I had the 50/10 package I believe... now I then was offered to double my speed for $10 a month as a promotion. I now get the above.

@directive

36ms ping is fine.... its when you start getting into the hundreds you should start worrying.

Quite honestly though... I'm thinking about downgrading. I don't need that bandwidth, not even half of it.
I don't "torrent" anymore because it's just not worth the risk, and even at half of the speeds I get now I'd
still be able to consume everything I currently do without a noticeable difference.
