Video card bad?

I 3rd getting an SSD.

I'll look into an SSD. Being a windows 10 user how big of a drive should I get? Like a minimum.
I was looking at the 900 series GPU's. By the time I get it, probably around January 2017, I just might go with the GTX 1060.

Minimum 256GB (or 250GB)! That size should be good enough for the OS and some games and other files, but certainly can't be used to store a bunch of videos and stuff.

I am using 500GB now on my 1TB drive. My pictures folder is using about 40GB and my video folder is about 250GB. So I am using about 200GB for OS and programs.

Yeah, as dragon said you can keep the 1TB drive and use it as storage.
You can probably go as low as the 275GB drive option, especially if you
are ok with keeping the 1TB mechanical hard drive as the storage drive.

For the cost, I'd personally go with the 525GB drive. Should offer you a
lot of room to "grow" with installing new programs and games. Do not
go lower than the 250/256/275 GB offerings (depending on brand). The
120 GB "ish" drives just fill way too fast.


As far as the GPU goes, you have to ask yourself what games you plan
to play and at what resolution / settings. If your a 1080P gamer, then
something like the GTX 1070 is way overkill (and a lot of money). Since
your planning to wait, you will most likely be able to pick up something
like a 980 TI, which is pretty close in performance to the GTX 1070, for
around the $200 mark. This will again be in the future, closer to your
suggested buying time frame of 2017 when the supply of GTX 1070 cards
gets them back down closer to their MSRP.

Meh. SSHD's are just hard disks with a small SSD as a cache, and you just have to hope and be lucky that it chose to cache the right stuff for you at all the right times... Hint: it probably won't and you'll just be experiencing hard disk speeds.

I agree, the hybrid drives just aren't worth it.

If you want to maintain the storage space, just go with the
250/256/270 GB drive as an OS drive and then just keep the
1TB drive as storage.

Just stick to the tried and true....

Either go with a Samsung 850 EVO (or pro if you want) or an MX300.
It's a one time expense that should easily outlast your current hardware.
