My friend said you can get fined for $25,000 per file if you are caught. Is that true?

no, that is not the case at all. I saw on tech tv that people were sewed depending on how much and what was shared. Some people settled for as little as a few thousand dollars. There is no set "piracy" fine... thats just redicilous... it would depend on the severity and the content.
