Ill fix you up real good dawg, they have complete plug and play mods that can be installed by anyone in just about 10 min. You have to be carefull though, if the console is dropped it could come loose and you'd have to re do it (just reseat everything).

Their are also solder in chips (solderin in an xbox is exponentially easier then soldering in a PS2, all the solder points ((3 I think)) are HUGE).

Either way you have to like make the images from the xbox onto the xbox's hard drive and then FTP them to the computer and burn that way. I would recommend upgrading the hard drive as well... unless you're okay with doing games 2-3 at a time.

Ill fix you up in just a bit

http://www.ps2nfo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13784

The Hyper-X mod chip which is the solderless one which will work on ALL versions of the XBOX and costs 25$.

http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/cust ... 171&page=3

The Xecuter 3 CE mod chip

The mack daddy of all xbox modchips and this is what I recommend. Get ahold of the install diagram and see if you think you can do it (or with others help). The biggest thing is find a disassembly guide and take the xbox apart and put it back together a few times to get familar with it and how it comes apart. This is also necessary to tell which version you have, their are guides out there for that as well. Now both mods will work on ALL versions of xbox but the install may be different depending upon which version you have.

i had opened mine before and damn, i didnt take pics cuz i thought it was pointless seeing as every other pic of an xbox looks the same. what i know looks different from some of the older xbox pics is that mine has a larger passive heatsink in place of that fanned heatsink. lol is that enough to tell the version for now? XD

the 8GB HD is fine, all i really want is to run XBMC and all its glory. im expecting it can play divx, xvid and stuff for videos stored on my PC over the network? it says it can but i want to be like, sure. lol. im also wondering about the possibility of it playing 1080p (im thinking no way in hell). but at least the xecuter interface part can do 16:9 right?

anyway about the chip, the Xecuter 3 CE will no doubt work for what i want, for any version of the xbox, right? i dont mind soldering btw. should i just order that now, learn how to do stuff during its shipping?

EDIT:
oh and cant you play games stored on a PC on the network as well?

I've never really looked into the homebrew aspect of an XBOX and Im pretty sure you cannot play games over a network.

You can however play games from the hard drive (but if your not going to upgrade the size then this is out of the question).

On the spec sheet for the Xecuter 3 CE on consolesource it claims 1080i is possible, so inono??? Deff not 1080p though.

Go ahead and order it, but before you install you will need to find out which version of the hardware you have to get the correct install diagram.

you get some of this malleable kinda metal that looks like a paperclip's metal but smoother, get a soldering iron that will melt it and itll melt and connect electronic stuff together.

what site should i order the chip from, and seeing as i mostly just want the XBMC, wouldnt the xecutor 2 be suitable as well? its cheap..

Im not 100% sure if the 2 does homebrew... I could find out pretty quickly but dont know right ATM.

As of right now I would say either go Xecuter 3 or go with the 25$ solderless Hyper-X mod chips.

lol i tried to take a straight vertical pic, i didnt feel like holding still so i just turned on the flash to have a fast shutter speed. but i didnt want the flash to have a huge white spot in the middle, so i covered the flash with my finger -_- the flash went through my finger, and so the pic is red. how fun.

yeah it was a failed pic.

Just use www.consolesource.com if they will ship to you, I've used them before and they didnt give me any shit.

On another note, the chip itself comes in like a packaged bundle and I think you get the same stuff no matter where its bought from.

Try www.divineo.com if not, see if they will ship to you.

I really dont like ordering from stores I've never heard of, espically because of how "on top" I say on the console modding scene.
