Depends entirely upon which CPU you have and what clockspeed.

If its say a 939 90nm (like mine and PB's CPU) then 35C idle and 50 C max should be your temps

120nm's can run hotter... probably give or take 5C in temp

Intels like the newer P4's run even hotter, but should never go much above 60C full load.

Download CPU-Z and tell us what make/model/core size you have.

mine runs from 35c to 60c depending on the load. Athlon XP 2700.
This is only my opinion, I could be wrong.

Thats a large range, Directive.. lol, anyway, just keep the temps below 60C as a general rule; even though I'm breaking that rule with my Prescott >.> dont care about that oven though.

sorry i didnt add that in the first time... p4 550 prescott 90nm

earlier my AC kinda went pscyho and the temp was lke 80 deg inside and my comp was 60C idling and i was like holy... its 48c now while im using it so yea

80 degrees ambient should still allow you to run cooler then 60C.

Are the fans clean of dust? Is the inside of your case clean of dust and other airborne crap like that? Dust clogging the fans alone can make a big hit on case/hardware temp. Either that or its time to apply some new thermal gel.

dude 2005, its a Prescott. o.O I see an idle of 50C with my 2.533GHz Celeron Prescott and a 72F ambient. Manny has one of the original Prescotts running at a whooping 3.4GHz, such temps are perfectly normal.

theyr umm semi clean at the moment lol

and thermal gel means nothing to me, i kno like nuthin bout hardware or buildin my own comp or whatev

anyways... the temps back to normal
