so ive got a 2 monitor set up and on one of em i started seeing horizontal lines across it

after doing the auto adjustment feature it has and turning it of a couple times, it wasnt goin away so i upped it from 60 hz to 70 hz

ive never had to do this before so i was wondering if its ok to do that? does it affect the life of the monitor? how is it for the eyes? etc

since i have two i put the other monitor which was having no problems to 70 hz btw

Huh... Horizontal lines should only show up on old monitors running on low resolutions.. Modern monitors tell the PC what settings it can't do so you can't choose 'damaging' ones. But w/e, if the monitor allows a higher refresh rate, set it higher. lol 60Hz = flicker galore for me, hurts my eyes. 70 is a bit low too, I need at least 75Hz. >_<

yep, mine is set for 75 and I have an older 21" crt "Cornerstone color 50/101sf".
Have you tried degauss? Prob wont fix it but it cant hurt to try:)

EDIT this has a 20" viewable screen and is 24" total (corner to corner).

Yes there is such a line on my dad's old Gateway monitor, when he got it, it was when the modern type of CRTs first came out and he did ask the worker why there was a weird line. The worker's useless answer was that all new CRTs have that line, it's normal.

my backup 17" Dell UltraScan 1000HS model- D1025TM had two very light lines the ran horizontal splitting the screen in thirds. They were very light and easy to miss.
