OK... some general shit

The kid I was trying to help OC claims he has no divider for his ram in his BIOS... im like WTF and he tells me his bios # is 1011.

I still dont understand the whole 240/4=60x3=180 bull shit...

If the number (say 180) is directly related to the CPUS FSB then it would have to be related to 200 wouldnt it. Because thats stock fsb.

But say it was 200..... 200/4=50x3=150

Is stock 150??? im lost lol

And I TOLD you on the electrical tape deal. And it looks as if you spliced pretty badly. To splice wires you bare the last inch of each wire and wrap the copper fibers together. The diameter of the wire where you spliced it should be no greater then the parts covered in plastic.

Actually an inch is too much... half an inch would suffice.

7800GT just got replaced with the newer 7900GT. Is said to retail for 299$ in about a month. It will have 24 pipes and 256MB of ram (faster ram then the 7800GT had). Its also supposed to fix the HDR and AA problems that the 7800GT seems to have. Basicaly it will be a very overclockable 7800GTX at 7800GT prices.

Wont have the cash until round about then anyways.

I could have had 900$ by now... but spent some and have 800$ in my safe plus about 30$ in my wallet.

Next 4 weeks pay = 900$ which would give me 1700$ and not enough I would need to wait for another pay. If my parents give me the 400$ they owe me before the month is out then I can order at the end of March which is when the 7900GT is dated for.

Doubt it but im still sold on the opteron 165. The only thing im worried about is getting good timings with my ram OC'ed to like 290mhz. 290x9= 2.61 ghz. Thats about what I hope to get stable. But at 290 FSB for the ram the timings, I think, are going to be shit. Now if the opty 165 is ported to socket M2 ( I think a fat chance in hell ) then Ill get that so I can use DDR2. DDR1066 Is supposed to give some processors over a 40% boost just due to memory bandwidth increases.

If Opty 165 doesnt go M2 then Ill just get one for 939 and buy up a 7900GT when they launch. If I can get that DDR500 ram up to 290 then it will be just fine.

i wouldnt shoot for 290, maybe get it up to that for fun, but not just shoot for that speed directly. especially when the tech support dude at gigaram had to replace a stick while working his way up to 295

Well then Ill need to run some type of memory divider because anything lower is pretty shit speeds on opty 165 due to the lower mutli.

275*9=2475
280*9=2520

I dont want to settle for anything less then 2.5 espically when people are hitting 2.6-2.7 and in some cases even 2.8 on air.

mm while i have pretty much a 2.4GHz limit due to heat issues XD the zalman 9500 (a good cooler upgrade) is so expensive ($63) it would have nearly been a better deal to get a 4200+, or just a 165. bahh oh well

as many people say on pcper, memory speed doesnt matter much, thats why i dont care how my RAM for some reason runs at 237MHz when its at 9.5x250 apparently i was wrong about that ratio thing in the BIOS? the RAM in reality is like running CPU/10 o.O but then i saw CPU/8 before........ dont get it!!!
